  Why couldn't Ren. users also help in Beta testing now?
  Isn't that what it's all about?

  FYI.
  I really enjoy using my Ren. I have since day one.

  Thanks for your note, none of the 2.0 features currently work on the LCD as advised we are perfecting this experience and will include Ren and Studio as soon as possible.

I don't understand how after all this time the software couldn't have been released for Ren and Studio users as well.

Oooh. Oooh. I have a suggestion!

The display should include a middle finger pointed at Renaissance users, who paid $1300 to bear the brunt of the original, terrible and barely usable MPC software --- only to now have to PAY for the upgrade AND wait another 7 years until Akai finally decides to develop the relevant, albeit likely buggy, software.

I'm guessing you guys take pointers on customer loyalty from Uber.

  I don't even mind paying and I understand that Akai is basically rewarding Touch users for helping the company recoup manufacturing costs for those units, but there ARE those of us who aren't interested in new hardware and just want the new and improved software for the hardware we already have. WHY make us wait for the new hardware to arrive when we're not gonna buy it anyway?
  
  Apparently, according to Akai, Ren and Studio users weren't even taken into primary considertion (which we probably SHOULD have, since we are the already established user base, meaning we're almost guaranteed to buy the software) because the reason Akai gives for not making the software available for Ren and Studio users is that it has to tweak the software to run well on those units.
  
  That's a crock of shit to me, but even if so, WHY weren't Ren and Studio users taken into consideration from day one of 2.0's development? Was Akai planning to simply abandon Ren and Studio users when the X and Live drops?

  No, nothing wrong with the REN itself. What jiggamahninja was referring to is the limitations of the 1.x.x. software. No real time pitch shifting/time stretching. Minimal 3rd party vst support (for some users apparently, myself included).

  Please remember when the product launched first launched in 2012 it was revolutionary and was a real game changer. We have been highly committed with over 5 years of updates both on the drivers and software and will continue to do so :) 2.0 is also a totally revolutionary product and will be well worth the wait.

  I respect the legacy of Akai, but I have to say the CONCEPT behind the MPC controller/software combo was indeed revolutionary (to an extent, there were already midi controllers, both pads and keys being used with software DAWs, and Native Instruments actually beat Akai to the punch with the Maschine), but the software itself was light years behind what was already available at the time. For example, real time pitch shifting and time stretching was already available with EVERY DAW on the market at that time and MPC users are just getting that functionality in 2017.
