MPC not working after 2.3 update- won't open, and plugin crashes

I began a project and it kept crashing after I tried to load the soundtoys halftime plugin. I did some reading and reinstall the plugin. Still either didn't open or crashed. Resolved that issue by troubleshooting and now software either crashes within or fails to load Omnisphere saying "Timeout" in the Preference- VST tab.

I redownloaded the soundtoys plugin and set them to 64bit also cleaned up some space on my 4GB RAM still not sure of the constant crashes from this.

Please help, thanks in advance.

Do you mean Cableguys Halftime? Soundtoys doesn't do a Halftime.

  • One solution might be to bridge them with Jbridge. I think I got this to make some work in previous versions that didn't otherwise.

  • Hey everybody,

    Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear you're having some trouble with plugins! Be sure to use only 64-bit versions of plugins with MPC 2 as it functions exclusively at that bit depth. If your plugins use the iLok License Manager for authorization, make sure that you are running the latest version of the iLok software.

The MPC 2 Software itself requires at least 4GB of RAM to run but that is for bare minimum performance (8GB is recommended, more RAM will only help process data). If you are using resource intensive plugins like Halftime that alter the actual playback of audio it is highly recommended that you have additional RAM to process these functions. Cableguys touches on plugin crashing in their FAQ but of course, running low on RAM can affect all software not just plugins. Keep in mind that your computer's physical memory (RAM) is different than storage memory. If you're using a low amount of RAM, I would recommend closing all other non-essential applications when processing audio so the most amount of memory can be devoted to that task. The takeaway is that audio processing uses a good amount of resources and the amount of RAM that is installed in your computer should be considered.

Start troubleshooting by opening the MPC Software's Preferences menu and rescanning the plugin directories in the Plugins menu.

If you are using MPC 2 on a Windows computer and having some difficulty opening plugin GUIs, you may be able to fix this by adjusting display scaling settings. Try right-clicking the MPC icon, selecting Properties, selecting the Compatibility tab, and select Change high DPI settings toward the bottom of that menu. This article will help you further adjust your operating system's display scaling settings:

That being said, if you are having difficulty with plugins in the MPC Software, our development team would like to hear any feedback you may have. You can submit information to development with the MPC 2 Software's built-in feedback module. The feedback module is represented by a smiley icon at the lower right side of the software next to the browser icons. This information goes directly to the Akai team for consideration!

If you need an alternative method of submitting feedback, you may use the following links:

MPC - Submit a Feature Request

MPC - Submit a Bug Report

    Thank you for your feedback!

If you continue to have difficulty with the software, our support team will be happy to help you take a closer look at what might be going on. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Technical Support inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Technical Support from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I haven't tried some of the solution yet, but i will give it a try.
Having the same issues as described here. Nothing new to add. everything was fine under 2.2.

The recommendation from Akai to adjust the DPI settings only helped me under 2.2 but has no effect on the 2.3 update. Most plugins still crash when adjusting parameters.

    I'm running a Dell i7 4970 @3.60GHz | 16GB and have no 32bit plugins installed.
I dont think this has to do with 32 bit plugins since all plugins that crash are 64 bit.

The 2.3 Update is looking great, kust too bad I can't enjoy the new features............................................................................................yet!!!

    We counting on u Akai!!!!

  • Its functions fine as long as you don't use any third party material. All factory components including drum kits and expansions function ok. If you do use third party plugins make they off before you close out a project.
